TT POLICE WELFARE ASSOCIATION CALLING FOR INSURANCE FOR OFFICERS

By a staff reporter:

The recent increase in the number of police officers succumbing to COVID-19 has prompted the President of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association, Insp Gideon Dixon, to renew calls for the Government to provide medical insurance for police officers.

ie News spoke with Inspector Dixon on Friday he said in Feb 2020, arrangements were made to facilitate officers medical issues, but it turned out that it involved public health services. He said the limited access this afforded was not enough for officers as the time period for treatment and testing was too long, resulting in the loss of manpower

Insp Jacob had previously suggested that the State must also stand liability if persons have adverse effect as it relates to COVID vaccination… in following suit with other international models. He said by giving options then the chance for co-operation is greater
