Cocktail drug therapy may be be the answer to fight against Covid

BY A STAFF REPORTER:  The antibody cocktail drug therapy may not be the solution and there have been cases where it has failed to improve immunity to fight the coronavirus, according to senior health experts treating the disease. The therapy is a cocktail of two drugs Casirivimab and Imdevimab. The recommended dose of each patient is 1200 mg with 600 mg of Casirivimab and 600 mg of Imdevimab. The drug is imported and the price for each dose is Rs 60,000. But senior doctors suggested that the cocktail therapy is a monoclonal antibody and may not work to improve immunity in an individual. ``The antiviral drugs are coupled with antibiotics to prevent secondary infections. There are high chances that this monoclonal antibody may not work against this form of virus,'' a senior doctor suggested.
