According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of omicron variant cases in the country has reached 200. 77 of the victims have already recovered. The country's first omicron victim was discovered earlier this month. The first omicron infection was found in the body of a passenger who returned abroad in Karnataka on December 4. The Omicron variant has since spread to a total of 11 states and Union Territories via Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi. At present, Maharashtra and Delhi have the highest number of omicron cases. The number of victims in both the states is currently 54. In addition, 20 people have been affected in Telangana, 19 in Karnataka, 18 in Rajasthan, 15 in Kerala and 14 in Gujarat. 1 omicron victim has also been traced in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
