BY A STAFF REPORTER: Nabin Chandra Das invented rosogollas way back in the 18th century while experimenting in his small makeshift shop in erstwhile Sutanati  and initially there were no takers. Sutanati, Govindapur and Kalikata, three areas made up what is today's Kolkata. The rosogollas were canned for overseas markets way back in the 19 th century.  The rosogollas and their off shoot product rosomalais were an instant hit with the foreigners especially the Britishers even during the pre independence era. Such interesting anecdotes came out during a candid interview between the Dhiman Das of KC Das, the famous confectioner of Bengal and Avijit Nandi Majumdar, editor-in-chief of ANM News.
