Indonesia's Merapi Volcano Erupts, Spews Hot Lava

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Mount Merapi in Indonesia, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted late friday night. After the eruption on Friday, hot ash and other elements continued to be emitted from the volcano on Saturday. The government-run Merapi Volcano Observatory collected footage of a tall column of burning lava and 1,300 meters high hot clouds in the air from the crater on Friday night. According to sources, the volcano continued to emit hot ash and hot lava was visible on Saturday. The country's volcanology agency Mount Merapi has predicted disruption to residents as a result of the eruption and ordered them to be vigilant for the risk of volcanic mud flow.
