Black day for East Bengal as protesting supporters fought pitched battle in the maidan

It's a black day for East Bengal. For the first time in the history of the club, supporters were lathicharged by the cops for protesting against the manner in which club management is running the affairs of the club. East Bengal has run into a turmoil with chief minister Mamata Banerjee induced investors Shree Cement shutting down operations and freezing finances after club authorities refused to sign the draft agreement. Rival supporters came to blows in front of the club, damaged vehicles, and pelted stones.
