 A Scientific Pathway to Health and Happiness” was organised recently at SSSS Jain College for Women in Chennai by the Department of Yoga, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Narchinthanai Vattam(NCV) and Indian Yoga Association’s Tamil Nadu State Chapter.

Dr.M.Sundar,Vice Chancellor, TNPESU presided and inaugurated the conference and also released conference Souvenir. Sri.R.Kuppan ,retired PCME, Sourthern Railways addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr.R.Elangovan, Secretary, TNSC-IYA delivered key note address.

A number of plenary sessions were arranged. Dr.P.RajiniKumar, Associate  Professor, TNPESU delivered an insightful talk on “ Principles of Bio-Mechanics in yoga”. Smt. Shanthi Iyer, Yoga Therapist spoke on “Benefits of Panchakarma”. Dr. V.R.Arivazhagan, Director, IIYN, Coimbatore communicated with demonstration on “ Laughter Yoga”. Ms. Rama, Yoga Therapist, Vinie Yoga Healing Centre, conveyed her thoughts on “Principles of Yoga therapy”.

On the second day, Dr. R.Natarajan, IRS, Assistant Commissioner of Customs  orated on “ Exercise and Wellness”. Ms.Fharzana Siraj, Founder Orange Ray  and Joint Secretary, TNSC-IYA lectured on “Health through Panchabhootas”.  Dr. Chitra, National Institute of Siddha Medical College, Chennai has spoken on “Importance of Siddha”. Mrs. Lakshmi Vibes of Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram brought her opinion on “ Yoga Therapy.

Dr.Subramanian, Principal, Pyramid Spiritual Science Academy, Bangalore conveyed his thoughts on “Kreeta Yoga” with live demonstration. Dr. V.Duraisami, Associate Professor and Head i/c, Department of Yoga, TNPESU and one of the Organising Secretaries of the conference has thrown an insight on “Stress Management”. A panel discussion was also organised headed with various yoga experts.

Prof,Dr.R.Ramakrishnan, Registrar i/c  TNPESU presided over valedictory function  and delivered the presidential address . Dr.JS.Rajkumar, Founder of Lifeline Group of Hospitals presented his valedictory address.

Mr.R.Balan, President  of Narchintanai Vattam organised the conference with wholehearted efforts. Best Research Paper awards, Yoga award to Teachers and Masters, and Yoga Ratna Medals were also distributed in the valedictory function to various selected yoga specialists.

More than 300 students, Scholars, yoga experts and enthusiasts from various parts of India attended the conference. Around 200 research  papers on Yoga and related fields were presented in the well excuted two days National Conference.
