It was the capital during the British Raj. Japanese bombed the island and captured it. They tortured and killed many people. Natalie Subhas Chandra Bose also landed in the island during the freedom movement. But currently Ross Island more known as Netaji Subhas dweep is in ruins. The buildings of British era has collapsed. ANM News editor in chief Avijit Nandi Majumdar explores the condition of the historic island.
